ABOUT MEC
The Mountain East Conference became the newest NCAA Division II conference in 2013 with a mission to develop a highly competitive league that fosters successful programs at the regional and national level. In just eight years of existence, MEC schools have earned nearly 150 NCAA postseason berths, won 22 regional championships and advanced to the national championship game eight different times, producing national champions in Wheeling University (volleyball, 2015) and the University of Charleston (men’s soccer, 2017 and 2019). In addition to the success on the field, MEC student-athletes have excelled in the classroom as well. In the fall of 2019-20, nearly 2,000 student-athletes were recognized by the league for maintaining over a 3.25 GPA in the fall semester. Further, an MEC athlete has been awarded the Elite 90 award on nine occasions. The MEC’s footprint includes 12 member institutions across three states (Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia) and sponsors 23 championship sports. Learn more at mountaineast.org
